The Tsunami Early Warning Center, says an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 has occurred in the sea 37 kilometers away from Beruwala at around 1.00 this afternoon. No threat of Tsunami according to GSMB. Public REQUESTS not to panic.

Minor tremors have been reported in Sri Lanka around 1- 1.15pm today. Tremors were felt in Beruwala, Homagama, Kottawa, Kalutara, Moratuwa and Panadura areas.

On February 22 tremor of magnitude 3.2 in the Richter scale, February 10th, A tremor of magnitude 3 and later on February 11 tremor of magnitude 2.3 in the Richter scale reported in Buttala, Wellawaya area.

On March 18, Two minor tremors have been reported in eastern and southern parts of Sri Lanka, according to the Geological Survey & Mines Bureau (GSMB).

The first minor tremor with a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale was felt at around 6.46 p.m. last evening (March 18) in Palatupana, Kirinda at a depth of 10km. Meanwhile, the second minor quake, measured at a magnitude of 3.0, was reported at around 3.30 a.m. this morning. It was felt in Gomarankadawala of Timbiriwewa area at a depth of more than 10km.
