In a heartfelt message to mark the significant occasion of Hajj, Foreign Minister Ali Sabry extended his sincere congratulations and warm wishes to all Muslims partaking in the sacred pilgrimage. The Minister’s message highlighted the essence of Hajj as a global congregation, emphasizing unity, peace, and brotherhood among the devotees of Islam.

The Hajj pilgrimage marks the conclusion of a compulsory religious practice of Islam.’Hajj is Arabic for “visiting a sacred place.” This can be referred to as a global congregation of all devotees of Islam united in peace and brotherhood.

It is an honor for me to convey my congratulations to all physically, spiritually, and financially healthy men and women on this occasion of their participation in the Hajj religious rituals. This is a momentous occasion that exemplifies how Islam’s five pillars—faith, fasting, compassion for the poor, prayer and pilgrimage—combine to demonstrate the transcendent relationships between humanity and allah. The Hajj Festival epitomizes the bond between humans in a complicated world.

I believe this festival, which honors God irrespective of ethnicity or particular circumstances of Muslim devotees from all over the world, is a lesson to coexist peacefully and harmoniously with followers of other religions.

Happy Eid-ul-Alha to all muslims, especially those who take part in the Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca with the message of equality amongst humans. I also wish the Muslim community in Sri Lanka and the world over.
