The conduct of elections to the local authorities will cost at least Rs.10 billion, an official said.
The official who insisted on anonymity told Daily Mirror that at least Rs.7 billion was spent for the last parliamentary elections in 2020. He said the prices of fuel had galloped since then.
“When we calculate the cost of everything from fuel to allowances for officials deployed to carry out duties related to the elections, it will roughly cost Rs. 10 billion this time,” he said.
However, he said sufficient allocations had been made to the Election Commission in the budget to conduct polls if declared.
