For the 2nd consecutive day Sri Lanka records less than 10,000 PCR tests. July 7th Sri Lanka conducted only 6403 PCR tests. Sri Lanka records the lowest number of PCR tests after 2 month on July 6th as only 5631 PCR tests done. Due to the health unions strike, it was reported that the PCR testing and lab activities at many hospitals severely hampered. On July 4th, Sri Lanka conducted 9,279 PCR tests. So far today 1243 new coronavirus cases detected in Sri Lanka.
Joint Federation of Supplementary Medical Services comprising 13 trade unions have called of the strike.
