An inmate at the Welikada Prison who was convicted of murder and was sentenced to death, was arrested while trying to flee dressed in an attire similar to the uniform worn by Prison Guards reports newsfirst.lk.
This prisoner is a (42)-year-old resident of Pannala Wawekotuwa Ulakotuwella area and he has escaped from the main gate of Welikada prison.
When this prisoner was taken out of the cell where he was held for a religious program today (25) at around 09.30 am, he escaped from the place and dressed in a uniform similar to that of a prison officer he was hiding himself, and presented false information to the prison officers.
As the behavior of the prisoner suspicious, the prison officers chased the prisoner to the Maradana train station and arrested the suspect while on a train there.
