Thousands of protesting university students decided to occupy at Diyatha Uyana near Parliament. The protest site near the Diyatha Uyana has been named as “Horu Go Gama”.

Inter University Students’ Federation and University students launched a massive protest march today afternoon against the government. The protest started under the theme “Let’s oust the government! Let’s reverse the system!” near Sri Jayewardenepura university and marched near the Parliament. Police fired tear gas to disperse protestors at Polduwa junction. Despite tear gas attacks, students protested and later occupied near the Diyatha Uyana.

Protestors demand “Go Home Gota” – a call for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down and end what is regarded as the corrupt political system in the country.
