Image is NOT President’s House

Images are circulating on social media showing that the house of President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been surrounded and protected by barbed wires.

Fact-Checking organization FactCrescendo Sri Lanka‘s investigation shows that the image circulating on social media indicating that President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s house has been surrounded by high barbed wire ropes as a new construction is not a photo of Sri Lanka. The photo has been circulating among people of Myanmar on social media since last April.

The Presidential Media Division PMD has also said that the image shows neither the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe nor the official residence of the President.
