Police Seize 500,000 Pregabalin Tablets in Major Drug Bust in Negombo
Colombo Crime Division officers have arrested a 30-year-old suspect from Mannar for illegally transporting Pregabalin, a prescription drug that is widely abused by drug users. The arrest was made in Negombo’s Koppara Junction during a special police raid.
Authorities seized over 500,000 Pregabalin capsules from a van used to transport the drug without a license or approval. Further investigations are underway to determine the suspect’s supply network and distribution channels.
What is Pregabalin?
Pregabalin is a medication used to treat epilepsy, nerve pain, fibromyalgia, and Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). However, it is also highly sought after by drug users due to its intoxicating effects, often referred to as “Bud” on the streets.
