Statistics show that tourism industry in Sri Lanka is recovering as 705,385 tourists visited Sri Lanka between January 2022 and December 27, 2022. Tourism Minister Harin Fernando says that the government expects tourist arrivals to hit 720,000 in total by the end of 2022.

The number of tourist arrivals in the year 2021 stood at 194,495.

According to the summary report on tourist arrivals this year, a total of 77,368 tourists have visited Sri Lanka just within December month, as of December 27.

The Tourism Minister further stated that a considerable number of tourists are scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in the months of January and February next year.

India is the largest tourist arrivals for Sri Lanka, according to the report 120,304 tourists have arrived from India. 87,815 Russian nationals and 84,142 British nationals have visited the Sri Lanka so far this year.
