Thirteen post offices in the Western Province-South, covering Colombo and Kalutara, will remain open 24 hours, offering night services to accept fines related to traffic offenses. 

DIG Traffic Control and Road Safety, Indika Hapugoda, communicated this initiative to Divisional Officers in Colombo (North, South, Central), Nugegoda, Mount Lavinia, Kalutara, Seethawakapura, Kelaniya, and Gampaha as part of a pilot project.

The specified post offices, including locations such as Slave Island, Havelock Town, Wellawatta, Borella, Kotahena, Battaramulla, Nugegoda, Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Panadura, Kalutara and Seethawakapura, have been designated to accept fines 24/7, including during the night. 

The Department of Posts has collaborated with the police to facilitate this service.

The DIG also informed the officers engaged in traffic duties to inform drivers about this initiative while processing cases related to traffic offenses.
