A 52-year-old male government school teacher from Ampara, who also conducted tuition classes, has been apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly leaking the GCE A/L Agricultural Science I & II question papers. The arrest follows an investigation into the irregularities surrounding the A-level examination held on January 10th.

The suspect was taken into custody and subsequently presented before the Ampara Magistrate’s Court. The court, upon reviewing the evidence presented by the CID, decided to remand the teacher until January 26th.

The controversy surrounds the second question paper of the Agricultural Science subject in the A-level exam, which took place on January 10th. Authorities have decided to annul the said question paper in all three languages – Sinhala, Tamil, and English. This decision has been made to maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination process.

The Examinations Commissioner has assured the public that a new date for the reexamination of the Agricultural Science subject will be duly communicated in advance.

The decision to cancel the exam came after credible information surfaced, indicating that the question paper had been compromised to the social media.
