According to Police spokesman so far 9 politicians arrested over the incidents in Galle Face & Kollupitiya Temple Trees.
On May 19, Police CID arrested Councilor of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia MC. Parliamentarians Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathilaka have been arrested and remanded until 25 May. Moratuwa Mayor Saman Lal Fernando also arrested and remanded till May 25th. Police arrested two Pradeshiya Sabha Chairmen and two more Pradeshiya Sabha Councilors. Earlier Former Western Provincial Councilor Amal Silva and a Moratuwa Municipal Council worker arrested.
So far about 1000 persons arrested over the incidents in Galle Face & Colpitty and for attacking persons, causing damages to public & private property Island wide
Police further seek public help to identify suspects and arrest them over Temple Trees protest site and Galle Face Protest site GotaGoGama attacks on May 9th.
According to UWN, anti-government protesters set on fire and damaged the residences and offices of at least 100 politicians, including over 70 parliamentarians. More than 80 vehicles including buses which transported pro-government protesters were either set on fire or damaged. (LankaXpress.com )
